“Pro bono publico (English: for the public good; usually shortened to pro bono) is a Latin phrase for professional work undertaken voluntarily and without payment or at a reduced fee as a public service.”
I provide pro bono photography services as well. Why? Because I believe as Human Beings, we should help each other, some way or another.
It all started back in 2009 while I was in my National Service. It suddenly struck me (of course there were some influences from my mates) that the compact cams we generally use, usually suck. Upon looking back at old photos, I realised that if only I could capture those memories much better, it would be nicer to look back on in the future. And somehow, photos help me recall memories much more vividly.
So I did it one day. I went to the ATM, took out $1450+ of my painfully earned cash and got myself a brand new DSLR. I was leaving for the UK for my studies and wanted to take pictures with friends and family. So that if I ever felt lonely over there, those memories were there at a turn of a switch. Little did I know that some of my photos were the last ones I would take with some of my family members.
It has been 3 years since I've been back in sunny Singapore and I can probably say that my photography knowledge has been improved so much more (you can see my past pictures). Thanks to friends and industry related experiences. I plan to bring what I learn back to Singapore and hopefully inspire and help others with it.
If you are interested in pro bono photography services, you know what to do too.
* Note that this is an exclusive hobby of mine so there is a possibility that not all requests can be fulfilled. Also, no prints, make-up, dressing nor studio is provided. Only the shoot.
